ST. PETERSBURG — A 50-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

Pinellas County sheriff's detectives began investigating John Douglas Long in May when they say they received information that Long was downloading child pornography. Detectives in the Special Victims Unit got a search warrant for Long's home on 18th Street S. Inside, they found "numerous images and videos that included sexual conduct by children," according to a news release.

Long allegedly admitted to the allegations in an interview with detectives and was taken to the Pinellas County Jail. Authorities said it does not appear Long knew the juvenile victims shown in the pornography.

Anyone with further information regarding this case is asked to call Detective Dennis Curtin at (727) 582-6200.
