St. Petersburg police investigating Circle K robbery

ST. PETERSBURG — Police are seeking the public's help in their search for a man they say robbed a gas station Monday morning.

Officers were called just after 5:15 a.m. to the Circle K at 2749 Ninth Ave. N.

A clerk told police the armed robber approached him as he emptied trash cans outside the store. The robber forced the employee inside to the register.

The thief fled with a small amount of cash and cigarettes, police said.

He is described as a black man in his 20s, who is about 6 feet 1 inches tall and 200 to 210 pounds. He had short dreadlocks and was wearing a black T-shirt, black sweat pants, a black hat and a black hairnet covering his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at (727) 893-7780 or the tip line at (727) 892-5000.
