ST. PETERSBURG — A police officer was involved in a three-car crash that shut down part of 34th Street N for at least an hour early Monday morning, authorities said.
The collision happened about 12:27 a.m., according to St. Petersburg police, though officials did not immediately describe how it occurred. Lieutenant Gregory Totz, 62, and four other people were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Totz, a 39-year veteran of the force, was not pursuing anyone at the time of the crash, according to police.
