St. Petersburg police seek help identifying SUV occupants in homicide case

ST. PETERSBURG — Police want help in finding the occupants of a white sport utility vehicle believed to be connected to a fatal shooting early Saturday.

Police said Vicandi Simpson was shot multiple times in the upper body in the front yard of a home at 4536 Seventh Ave. N about 3:20 a.m.

Police said they believe Simpson had just parked his car in front of his father's home at 4544 Seventh Ave. N when he was confronted by an unknown number of people in a white SUV.

Shots were fired at Simpson, and he ran to his neighbor's yard, police said. That's when at least one assailant caught up with him and shot him multiple times.

On Wednesday, detectives released a video of the SUV from a nearby residential security camera. The video shows the SUV traveling north on 42nd Street right after the shooting.

Police ask anyone with information that might help identify the occupants to call Detective Pam Marland at (727) 893-4896 or (727) 893-7780 or to call the tip line at (727) 892-5000.
