St. Petersburg woman suspected of beating child with shoe, belt

ST. PETERSBURG — A 24-year-old woman suspected of hitting a young boy with a shoe, a belt and her fist was arrested and charged with child abuse Monday morning, authorities said.

Allison Denise Britt allegedly caused the 4-year-old boy to suffer a swollen left eye, a bump on the forehead, welts on the lower back, a bruised chest, cuts on the arm and foot, and a bloody lip.

The incident occurred June 28 in an apartment on 39th Street N, according to St. Petersburg police. Officials did not say what the relationship between Britt and the boy is.

Britt, who lives in St. Petersburg and worked at Domino's Pizza, is being held at the Pinellas County Jail while she awaits trial. No further information was immediately available.
