Stabbing victim runs out into St. Petersburg traffic

ST. PETERSBURG — Traffic on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N was temporarily closed on Wednesday afternoon as police investigated a stabbing attack.

Yoel Magrinat ran into traffic in the 4800 block of King Street at about 12:31 p.m., according to police, asking for help, after suffering several stab wounds to the back. Magrinat was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

A man deemed a "person of interest" in connection with the attack was found nearby and detained by officers, according to St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez. He has since been released.

King Street was reopened. The investigation is continuing.
