Suspect arrested in New Port Richey shooting at Dunkin' Donuts

NEW PORT RICHEY – Deputies have arrested a man accused of shooting two people last month outside a Dunkin' Donuts.

On Dec. 12, a New Port Richey Police report states, Robert William Bisplinghoff was arguing with the two men at the doughnut shop at U.S. 19 and Gulf Drive when he pulled out a gun and shot them.

Bisplinghoff, 19, shot one of the men four times and the other once, the report states. Both were taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point and are still recovering. Police Chief James Steffens said they are lucky to be alive.

What they were arguing about is unclear, but Steffens said, "they were meeting at that time and location for some type of discussion."

Bisplinghoff fled from the scene. Pasco sheriff's warrant detectives received a tip and found Bisplinghoff on Friday at a motel in Palm Harbor.

He was arrested on two charges of attempted first-degree murder. Bisplinghoff remained Monday in the Pinellas County jail without bail.
