Suspect sought in shooting of man in Brooksville

BROOKSVILLE — Police are searching for a suspect who shot a 20-year-old man in a south Brooksville neighborhood early Monday.

Officers responded to the Sunoco station at 765 S Broad St. about 1 a.m. and found the man, whom police have not identified, with a gunshot wound to the leg, Police Chief George Turner said. Witnesses told investigators the man was sitting in a car parked in the driveway of a home at 815 Hale Ave., about a mile from the service station, when someone opened fire. A bullet went through the door and into the man's lower leg.

Witnesses said they were unable to provide a description of the shooter, Turner said. The man was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover. The investigation continued Tuesday; no additional information was available.
