POLICE: SUSPECTED thief says he didn't want to wait in line to pay

David Paul Abraham is not accused of taking much from the Publix at 5000 East Bay Drive. On Feb. 25, he grabbed a couple of Kit Kats, honey and a cupcake from the bakery, according to an arrest report.

Abraham, who has previously been convicted of theft, walked out of the store, the report says. A loss prevention employee was on his heels.

Police said Abraham, 54, told officers he was in a hurry and didn't want to wait in line to pay for the sweets.

According to the report: "He figured he could get away with it." He faces a charge of petit theft.

Deputies say man claims arousal was his reason for smoking crystal meth

About 11:15 p.m. Feb. 27, deputies said, they saw a man smoking what looked like a crystal substance in a glass pipe in a car on Gandy Boulevard.

It turned out to be crystal meth, according to an arrest report, and the man, Noukone Phandara, 36, of St. Petersburg had a reason for smoking it.

Pinellas sheriff's deputies wrote in the report that Phandara admitted the meth was his and that "it makes him 'horny.' "

Investigators found other drugs in Phandara's possession, including marijuana and oxycodone. He faces several drug charges.

Man accused of purchasing stolen golf cart from suspected drug dealer

The golf cart Joseph A. Vilcsek III bought Feb. 22 had to be hot-wired and came with no paperwork, police said.

It was sold for $800, less than half the retail value of $2,300, according to an arrest report.

And the man who sold it also sells drugs, deputies said, which Vilcsek later told investigators he was also trying to buy that morning.

Vilcsek of Largo faces a charge of dealing in stolen property.
