Suspects nabbed after chase through Pasco, Hernando

Pasco and Hernando deputies apprehend a woman after a chase ended Thursday off California Street in Hernando.

Pasco and Hernando deputies apprehend a woman after a chase ended Thursday off California Street in Hernando.

After a 20-mile chase Thursday afternoon that ended south of Brooksville, deputies from two counties caught a pair of suspects sought in a possible attempted robbery.

It began at the Publix store on U.S. 41 in Land O'Lakes, where Pasco County Sheriff's Office officials believe a drug deal may have gone bad.

The suspects, who allegedly had a gun, fled after the botched robbery and drove north on U.S. 41 and the Suncoast Parkway into Hernando County. During the chase, authorities say, the man and woman tossed a weapon from their white four-door Hyundai.

In Hernando, the suspects led deputies into a rural neighborhood off California Street, where they veered around spike strips and stopped in someone's back yard. There, authorities say, the two surrendered.

Investigators say they found a gun and possibly some drugs connected to the suspects, who authorities had not named by early Thursday evening.
