TAMPA — Police charged a 68-year-old man with second-degree murder Saturday after the shooting death of his live-in girlfriend.
Near midnight Friday, Annie Ruth Wall, 61, got into an argument with Samuel Harrison, who had been living with her at 1224-A E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. for more than a year, Tampa police said.
During the fight, Harrison got a pistol and fired a shot at Wall, killing her, police said.
Then he stayed in the home with her body until a family member came by on Saturday between noon and 1 p.m. and found Wall dead, said Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy.
The family member called police, and Harrison co-operated with investigators, McElroy said.
He was taken to a Hillsborough County jail, where he was held without bail.
No previous domestic violence incidents were reported at their address, said Tampa police Lt. Dave Goodman.
Both Harrison and Wall have been arrested before in Hillsborough County, but neither had been charged with a felony or violent offense.
