Tampa man accused of having sex with minor in Polar Cup van

TAMPA — Deputies accused a 31-year-old man Tuesday of having sex with a 16-year-old girl multiple times in his Polar Cup van. Manual Colon Miranda faces eight charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second-degree felony.

He had sex with the girl eight times between Feb. 20 and March 20, including once at a Holiday Inn Express hotel, the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office reported.

The girl told her parents Sunday, and the next day, she called Miranda and the calls were recorded. During the calls, Miranda's statements corroborated the victim's accusations, deputies said.

They scheduled their next encounter for Tuesday. But instead of arriving to find the girl, he found detectives waiting to arrest him.

Miranda was booked into Orient Road Jail.
