Tampa man accused of molesting 8-year-old in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — Authorities have arrested a man they said molested an 8-year-old last month.

Mario Sims, 24, who lists a home address in Tampa, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Tuesday. Records show Tampa police picked him up on a warrant last week.

He has been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation. Bail was set at $250,000, records show.

St. Petersburg police is investigating the case.

Police spokesman Mike Puetz said Sims was acquainted with his victim, and that the incident happened Feb. 19 at a home in St. Petersburg.

Puetz said the Sims molested the girl while she was in bed.
