TAMPA — A 24-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Alejandro Valdez Ortiz, of Tampa, assaulted the girl on New Year's Eve about 8:30 p.m., an arrest affidavit shows. Ortiz and the girl know each other.
He was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 6942 W Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa.
Ortiz faces a capital sexual battery charge. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he remained Wednesday morning without bail.
