Tampa man accused of raping woman in dark alley, police say

TAMPA — A Tampa man was arrested early Saturday morning after police saw him raping a woman in a dark alley, according to an arrest affidavit.

Varrow Aloysius Davis, 50, grabbed a woman's arm and dragged her from the sidewalk on the 2000 block of E Fourth Avenue, the affidavit said.

He forced her to perform oral sex on him, records show, and then told her to take off her clothes. The victim tried to escape, but Davis cornered her by a fence and pushed her to the ground.

Police witnessed him raping her, the affidavit said. Davis was charged with sexual battery and kidnapping. He was being held without bail in the Hillsborough County Jail.
