Tampa man accused of setting house fire

TAMPA — A Tampa man was arrested on an arson charge Sunday after authorities said he was overheard saying he wanted to burn down a house.

Curry Pittman, 48, faces a felony first-degree arson of a dwelling charge after Tampa fire units responded at 8:02 a.m. at 942 E 11th Ave., a bungalow north of Ybor City.

Police said Pittman was overheard by a witness saying he wanted to burn down the house. Pittman was then seen entering the home and, moments later, flames were seen, police said.

Investigators determined three points of origin for the blaze.

Pittman was arrested four hours later. He was held without bail at the Hillsborough County Jail.
