Tampa man charged in grow house operation in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL — A 41-year-old man faces multiple charges after detectives found 49 marijuana plants in his rented Spring Hill home on Wednesday, authorities said.

Armed with a search warrant, investigators also discovered Yosvani Medero-Burgo was stealing electricity by diverting power from the meter of a house in the 14100 block of Dorado Street, according to the Hernando Sheriff's Office.

Medero-Burgo started renting the home in July, investigators said. Jail records list an address for him at 7005 Continental Drive in Tampa.

He was charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of a structure for cultivation, grand theft, trespass of a utility and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Hernando County Detention Center on Wednesday in lieu of $21,000 bail.
