TAMPA — A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday and faces a second-degree attempted murder charge in an attack on his boyfriend, Tampa police said.
Willie Michael O'Neal and his boyfriend were arguing March 31 at 8505 N Hamner Ave. when O'Neal put him in a headlock and then chased him outside. O'Neal then knocked his boyfriend to the ground, slammed his head against the pavement and strangled him until he lost consciousness, according to an arrest affidavit.
His boyfriend woke up later inside a laundry room. He sustained a fracture, swelling and bruising to his neck, face and chest, the affidavit shows.
O'Neal was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he remained Friday morning without bail.
