TAMPA — A 53-year-old Tampa man charged with sexual battery involving a 17-year-old girl faced additional charges Sunday after investigators found 14 marijuana plants inside his house.
Police said Osvaldo J. Contreras-Martinez raped the girl Saturday after luring her inside his house at 4319 Green St. in Tampa.
Later that night, while Contreras-Martinez was at the Hillsborough County Jail, police executed a search warrant at his home and found the plants.
Police said Contreras-Martinez had rigged electrical cables from a TECO line to create a makeshift grow house.
In addition to one count of sexual battery, he was charged with trespassing and theft of electrical power, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture of cannabis.
Contreras-Martinez was being held without bail at the jail Sunday.
