Tampa man charged with sexual battery

TAMPA — A Tampa man was arrested Monday on a felony charge he had sexually battered a physically helpless woman last September.

Deputies said a woman reported Edis Garciajauregui, 26, assaulted her after they came home from a Tampa nightclub together Sept. 15. Deputies said she was drunk and physically helpless at the time. The incident was reported four days later.

Investigators gathered witness statements and conducted a polygraph test on Garciajauregui, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

He faces a charge of sexual battery on a physically helpless person and was booked without bail into the Hillsborough County Jail.
