Tampa pair face animal cruelty charges

TAMPA — Two people were arrested Wednesday on animal cruelty charges after police said they found a dead dog in their back yard and another dog in distress.

Police were searching for a wanted juvenile Wednesday night when they went to the home of Keith George, 40, and Lacresia Harris, 34, at 2614 E Genesse St. Police said they found a dead 2-year-old Rottweiler mix in the back yard and a starving terrier mix, both with severe flea infestations. Neither dog had proper shelter, food or water, police said.

Hillsborough County Animal Services took both dogs. A necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of the Rottweiler mix, police said.

George and Harris were being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
