TAMPA — The downtown Tampa police headquarters was briefly evacuated Friday afternoon while officers investigated a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.
According to police, an anonymous caller shortly before 1 p.m. said a bomb had been placed in a men's bathroom.
A search determined there was no such suspicious device in the building. Officers did find an unattended bag near the entrance of the police garage, but found it was empty.
People were let back in the building Friday afternoon.
