TAMPA — Police have identified the man shot outside a Busch Boulevard gas station Wednesday night and the man suspected of pulling the trigger.
Joush Blakely, 19, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the stomach.
The gunshot was fired by a man arguing with one of Blakely's friends, police said.
Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said Blakely is expected to live, and police are searching for 19-year-old Marcel Antwon Morris of 5303 Luci Court, Apt. 221, who will face charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.
The men met at the Marathon gas station to fight over Morris' ex-girlfriend, now dating a friend of Blakely's, Davis said. During that fight, Morris pulled out a gun and fired several shots, and one struck Blakely.
Morris ran away.
Morris has been arrested several times, on charges including burglary, petty theft, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana, Florida Department of Law Enforcement records say.
After his most recent arrest, in August, Morris was made to wear a monitor, jail records show. Davis said law enforcement removed his monitor before Wednesday's shooting.
