TAMPA — The search is on for a man who hopped into another man's car on Gandy Boulevard on Thursday morning and eventually drove away with it.

Tampa police said that at 11 a.m., William Barry, 42, pulled into a abandoned gas station on Gandy Boulevard at West Shore Boulevard to smoke a cigarette.

A man jumped into Barry's car and forced him to drive to the BB&T Bank at 1701 S Dale Mabry Highway to withdraw money.

He then forced Barry to drive him to the 1500 block of Grady Avenue and kicked him out.

Police found the car at the intersection of S Church and W Inman avenues.

A silver, 2004 to 2008 Buick LaCrosse with dark-tinted windows and 22- to 24-inch chrome rims followed Barry's car during the incident and was caught on bank surveillance video.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Tampa police at (813) 231-6130.
