TAMPA — A Tampa police officer faces a simple domestic battery charge after being arrested Thursday night in an altercation with her estranged husband, records show.

Sarah Pauline Hinsz, whose age was not provided, of Dade City was arrested by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office just before 9 p.m., records show. She was released from jail Friday morning on $500 bail.

A Tampa police spokeswoman said Friday that details of how long Hinsz has been with the force and her duties were not readily available.

A Pasco sheriff's report shows that on Thanksgiving night, Hinsz went to the Zephryhills home of her estranged husband. She began yelling, the report shows, and threw a large set of keys at him. The keys struck him in the forehead, authorities said, causing a 1-inch cut.
