Tampa police search for convenience store robbers

TAMPA — Police are searching for two armed men who walked into a Circle K store early Thursday morning and took a purse, money from the registers and cartons of cigarettes.

At 5:09 a.m., the men walked into the store at 4801 W Gandy Blvd. and split up, police said.

One man went to check out the bathroom before heading into a back office to confront two employees. He pointed a gun at them and asked for money from the safe, Tampa police said.

They told him the safe was at the front counter and they couldn't open it. He forced them to the front counter, where the second man was holding a third employee at gunpoint.

The robbers emptied the registers and took a few cartons of Newport cigarettes, along with a purse stored under the counter, police said.

Anyone with information about this robbery can contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.
