TAMPA — Four days after Bruce Rivera's body was pulled from the Hillsborough River, detectives still haven't determined whether the college freshman died as a result of an accident or foul play.

Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said investigators were still waiting for the results from a preliminary autopsy report from the medical examiner's office before they decide the course of their investigation into the death of Rivera, a 19-year-old from Zephyrhills who was attending Hillsborough Community College.

If detectives determine foul play was involved, their inquiry will turn into a homicide investigation.

"With any investigation, you have to put all of the facts together," Davis said. "And we don't have all of those facts yet. One big piece of that puzzle is the determination from the medical examiner."
