Tampa school put on brief lockdown as police track two men who tried to burglarize car

TAMPA — Police arrested two men they said tried to break into a car near Patriot Park, sparking a 30-minute lockdown at a nearby school.

The suspects, whose names were not released, fled the scene before being taken into custody near Bayshore Boulevard and Rome Avenue, police said.

During the incident, administrators put St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School, at 1002 S. Rome Ave., on lockdown. Students remained in their locked classroom and anyone who came to the school was escorted to the office.

No other details were released.
