Tarpon Springs man accused of raping girl

TARPON SPRINGS — A 42-year-old man is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl, police said.

Jessie Reynolds, of 605 S Disston Ave., was arrested Sunday and charged with sexual battery. On Monday, he was being held without bail in the Pinellas County Jail.

According to Tarpon Springs police, the girl was injured when Reynolds forced himself on her Saturday night.

Reynolds served 13 years in prison after a 1990 conviction on charges of aggravated battery, kidnapping and cocaine trafficking, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

Reynolds, who goes by the nickname "Junebug," created a stir in 1989 when he alleged a Tarpon Springs police narcotics detective was tipping him off about drug raids. Several months later, Reynolds recanted his statement.
