DADE CITY

Teenager accused in shooting outside bar

A teenager is accused of forcing a 38-year-old man to his knees and shooting at him twice. One bullet missed the victim's body. The second grazed the left side of his head.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 15 near Cooper's Bar, a Carver Heights bar that has seen two murders in recent years.

A barroom brawl at Cooper's last year left a man's ear hanging by a thread.

The latest victim had been playing pool inside the bar Aug. 15, then came outside, where the shots were fired. He then rode his bicycle to the Dade City police station and was taken to a local hospital, according to a report. The man survived.

Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting.

On Tuesday, 17-year-old Edner Deshan Dely, of 38538 Patti Lane in Dade City, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Another suspect involved in the shooting is still at large, said Kevin Doll, spokesman for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
