CLEARWATER — Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy Thursday night after he crashed a stolen car and kicked a police dog, authorities said.

Clearwater officers spotted two stolen cars just before 11 p.m. near Union Street and Highland Avenue. The 2005 Infinity was later recovered near Flagler Drive and Gentry Street.

Officers found the stolen Lincoln after the teenager crashed it into the fence of the Clearwater Country Club at Palmetto Street and Kings Highway.

The 15-year-old ran from the car but was apprehended by a police dog. He kicked the dog, police said, but the canine was not hurt.

He faces several charges, including auto theft and battery on a police dog.

The teenager was treated for bites and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
