Teen accused of delivering drugs, concealing gun arrested after search in Brandon

BRANDON — A teenager accused of delivering drugs and carrying a concealed gun was arrested Wednesday after an intense search, authorities said.

Hillsborough County Deputy Brandon Parker spotted a man in a parked Kia at Heather Lakes Park just after 11 a.m.

Parker smelled marijuana, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

The suspect ran, she said.

Ashton Alexander Been, 17, of Brandon was arrested soon after.

Inside the Kia, deputies said they found "a felony amount of marijuana" and a loaded .380 handgun. Been was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, possessing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park and carrying a concealed weapon.
