Tennessee man arrested in Dade City bank robbery

DADE CITY — Authorities arrested a man in Tennessee on charges of robbing a Wachovia Bank in Dade City this month. The bank at 14210 Seventh St. was robbed June 8 by a man who told tellers he was armed. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest. A tip came in on June 16 to the Tampa Police Department and the FBI on a possible suspect in Tennessee.

Dade City police detectives say they matched forensic evidence from the scene to that suspect, James Lensy Dodson, 55, of Tullahoma, Tenn.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Dodson's arrest, and police in Tullahoma arrested him in connection with the Dade City robbery and violation of his probation in Tennessee.

He is awaiting extradition to Florida.
