NEW PORT RICHEY — The pit bull terrier that killed a 7-day-old baby last week was not rabid. A laboratory test released Monday on Sidon, the 45-pound dog euthanized Thursday after attacking Thomas James Carter Jr., showed the dog's aggression did not stem from rabies, said spokeswoman Pasco Animal Services manager Denise Hilton. Deputies said the dog left 50 puncture wounds in the newborn's body while his mother, Nicole Koezeno, 16, slept in bed with the baby. Pasco sheriff's investigators have not released any additional information about the attack.
