Third suspect arrested in Tampa shooting that injured pregnant woman

TAMPA — Police have arrested the third suspect in a March shooting that injured a teenager and a woman who was eight months' pregnant.

Alonzo Jones Jr., 18, of Tampa, was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery with deadly weapon and criminal mischief Wednesday.

The shooting happened during a block party at Jackson Heights Apartments on March 13, according to an arrest affidavit. Three people started firing guns around 9 p.m., apparently at each other, police said.

The two victims caught in the shooting suffered non-life threatening injuries, and the woman delivered her baby boy safely.

The first suspect, Quinton Thompson, was arrested March 15 and the second, Russell Lee Porter Jr., turned himself in Monday. All three men remain in a Hillsborough County Jail.
