Three teens accused of shoplifting $1,400 from Shops at Wiregrass

Three teenage girls accused of shoplifting

Three teenage girls were arrested over the weekend on charges of shoplifting nearly $1,400 in merchandise from the Shops at Wiregrass.

A loss prevention officer at JCPenney stopped the girls — two 13-year-olds and one 14-year-old — on Saturday evening after watching them leave the store with items concealed in their shopping bags and purses, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

The store contacted a sheriff's deputy, who found the girls had stolen items totaling $1,372.88 from Victoria's Secret, American Eagle Outfitters, PacSun, Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe.

The Times is withholding the names of the girls, who live in Lutz and Odessa, due to their age.

The teens were charged with retail theft and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center at the Land O'Lakes jail.
