LARGO — The chief financial officer of Times Publishing Co., parent company of the Tampa Bay Times, was arrested late Friday on a charge of driving under the influence.

At about 11:20 p.m., Jana Linn Jones, 55, was driving on 49th Street N near the intersection of Ulmerton Road when her 2014 Lexus struck the back of another car, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Responding deputies observed Jones with bloodshot eyes, unsteady balance and the smell of alcohol on her breath, the report states.

Jones refused a breath test and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. She was taken to the Pinellas County Jail just after 1 a.m. and was later released on $500 bail, jail records show.

Jones joined the Times in 2004 following a 20-year career in banking and newspapers. She was named a vice president and elected to the Board of Directors in 2007. She also serves as treasurer for the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
