TAMPA — Deputies charged a man with child neglect Saturday evening after they say he allowed his 15-year-old son to drive his minivan for him because he was too drunk, an arrest report shows.

Deputies stopped a red Dodge Caravan with no brake lights in Gibsonton and discovered it was being driven by a 15-year-old, the report said. The father, Darran Foraker, told deputies he was drunk and did not have enough money for a hotel room because he spent it on alcohol, the report said, so he had his son drive instead. He told deputies he was too drunk to care for the teen.

Foraker, 41, of Gibsonton, was being held in the Hillsborough County Jail on $2,000 bail.
