Two accused of growing marijuana, stealing power in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL — Detectives arrested two people Wednesday after discovering a marijuana grow operation and more than 30 pounds of the drug at a Spring Hill home, authorities said.

Acting on a warrant, investigators searched the house at 10097 Gifford Drive and found 42 marijuana plants and 4 pounds of loose marijuana, according to the Hernando Sheriff's Office. The recovered material weighed 33.5 pounds.

Detectives also found a power line rigged to divert electricity to the house.

Arrested were Yaneris Barbara Perez, 39, and Eduardo Cabeza, 37. They were charged with cultivating and trafficking in marijuana and theft of utilities, among other charges.

Each remained in the Hernando County Detention Center on Wednesday evening in lieu of $26,250 bail, records show.
