TAMPA — Two Tampa men are facing charges after shots were fired between two moving cars Tuesday at Williams Park in East Tampa.

Tampa Police officers responded to a report of gunfire about 1:20 a.m. at Williams Park, at 4362 E Osborne Ave.

Reshard Mills, 21, and Tyrell Leach, 18, were arrested while trying to flee the scene. Mills is facing charges of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. Leach is facing charges of fleeing to elude, burglary and resisting without violence.

When officers arrived, they spotted people in two vehicles — one a black 1993 Nissan Sentra occupied by Leach and Mills — shooting at each other as they headed north on N 43rd Street.

The officers turned on their emergency lights and pursued the vehicles but both cars failed to pull over, police said.

During the pursuit, someone in the Nissan pointed a firearm at the officers, police said.

The pursuit ended when the Nissan attempted to drive over a median, disabling it, near the 4100 block of East Clifton Street.

Leach and Mills fled from the car but were apprehended. One other occupant of the car was still at large, police said.

No information was released on the second vehicle or its occupants.
