TAMPA — Police say two brothers were shot Friday afternoon during an argument about stolen property.
Edward S. Evans, 22, was arguing with Akhnaten K. Casey, 27, in front of 1604 E Paris St. at 3:24 p.m., according to Tampa police.
Casey pulled a .40-caliber handgun and shot Evans in the stomach, police said. Abdullah Ibn Al Islam, 31, rushed to help Evans, who police say is his brother.
During a struggle with Casey for the gun, Ibn Al Islam was shot in the back and upper left leg.
Police say found Evans wounded inside the home and Ibn Al Islam lying in the road. Officers arrested Casey nearby and found a handgun.
The brothers were taken to Tampa General Hospital, where they were in critical condition Friday evening.
Casey served two years in state prison on drug charges and has been arrested several time s in Hillsborough County. He faces possible attempted murder charges in connection with Friday's shooting.
