TAMPA — Two people were found dead late Saturday at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island hotel in what Tampa police said was a murder-suicide.

According to authorities, Jay Gordon Stevens, 32, of Bradenton shot and killed Lindsey Marie Price, 23, also of Bradenton, before shooting himself. Saturday was Price's birthday.

Tampa police found them after responding around 11:45 p.m. to a call of possible gunshots at a room in the hotel at 725 S Harbour Island Blvd., authorities said.

Jeremy Bryant, 37, said he was on the eighth floor of the hotel when he heard a noise outside his room but hadn't been aware of what happened beyond that.

"It was a loud noise," he said. "I don't know if it was a gunshot or not."

Joclyn Hinson, 46, said when she got to the hotel around midnight, police were coming into the building.

"When we came back, they were coming in with shields and stuff," Hinson said. She added that hotel security told her she couldn't go onto the eighth floor.

Both Stevens and Price lived at the same address in Bradenton, according to Tampa police. The nature of their relationship and more details were not immediately available.
