LARGO — A woman trying to get away from a Largo police officer is accused of biting him and running over his foot and then hitting another officer with a car.
Jamie Rene Ramseur, 27, was arrested Friday morning and charged with attempted murder of an officer and other charges.
Here's how Largo police described the incident:
Ramseur and a man drove up to a Super AM at 1595 Seminole Blvd. An officer who was patrolling nearby checked their tag and found that the Hyundai Elantra had been stolen in Clearwater.
As the officer approached, Ramseur rushed to the car, got inside and turned the ignition.
The officer reached in to take the keys, but Ramseur bit his arm twice. She tried to drive away with the officer still in the car and hit two people, a Dumpster and a potted plant.
During the struggle, Ramseur also ran over the officer's foot and struck his leg. He fell back and hit his head. He radioed for help.
Officers saw the vehicle near Seminole Boulevard and Fifth Avenue SW and followed.
Ramseur tried to hide by turning off her headlights and parking between two vehicles. An officer tried to get her out, but she hit him with the car and almost pinned him between two other cars.
Ramseur tried to speed away again but crashed into a tree. She got out and ran.
Police dogs found her in a back yard about a half-mile away. Ramseur was bitten by a dog after failing to obey officers.
Officers are trying to find and identify the man who was seen with Ramseur.
The officers and the two other people who were hurt were treated for their injuries and released.
Ramseur was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on Friday in lieu of $178,500 bail.
