Two placed on leave during vice and narcotics investigation at Hernando Sheriff's Office

BROOKSVILLE — The Hernando County Sheriff's Office has opened a criminal investigation into its vice and narcotics unit, but is saying little else.

The investigation was opened on Tuesday, according to a brief media release issued Wednesday. Two employees have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the inquiry, the release said.

The Sheriff's Office did not release the names of the employees, citing a provision in state law that requires details of active investigations to be kept confidential. Agency spokeswoman Denise Moloney said no other information would be released until the investigation has been concluded.
