Two stranded boaters and their dogs rescued off Pinellas Bayway

ST. PETE BEACH — Two people were rescued early Thursday after their boat became stranded on a sandbar off the Pinellas Bayway, Bay News 9 reports.

No one was injured.

Lee Hernandez, Jennifer McNugget and their two dogs were stranded in their 23-foot Pro-Line sport boat overnight.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call from the stranded boaters about 1:30 a.m. Hernandez told rescuers his boat was new and the battery died during their outing.
