Two wounded when drug deal turns into shooting

BRANDON — A drug deal turned violent on April 5, leaving two people shot in an attempted robbery that deputies say was set up by a Valrico landscaper.

Sam Wesley Solomon, 19, arranged the deal in the parking lot of Lowe's at 11375 Causeway Blvd., according to an arrest report. Deputies say he rode up in a white sport utility vehicle, stepped out and got into the victim's car. While Solomon talked to the two people, another unidentified man got out of the SUV, walked over and removed the keys from their ignition.

Next, deputies say, two armed men wearing ski masks got out of the SUV and demanded money, then shot the two men in the car. All four conspirators got back into the SUV and left.

The victims were treated at Tampa General Hospital.

Solomon of 1109 Carriage Park Drive, Valrico, was taken into custody at the Falkenburg Road Sheriff's Office. He is charged with attempted felony murder and attempted robbery with a firearm and is in jail without bail. The other three suspects have not been caught.
