PINELLAS PARK — Two men died of gunshot wounds Saturday night — one of them fatally wounded in a shootout with Pinellas Park police.

Two Pinellas Park police officers responded to a domestic violence call at 8:48 p.m. at 6082 96th Ter., and met with a female resident outside, Sgt. Michael Lynch said.

The officers entered the home and discovered one man who had already been shot, Lynch said. A second man started shooting at the officers, he said.

Officers returned fire, striking the male resident, who died later at a hospital from his injuries.

The man who had been shot before the officers arrived died at the scene.

The names and ages of the victims were not released. Neither officer was injured; they are on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. Their names are also not being released.

Lynch said the two men and the woman lived together at the home but he did not know how any were related.
