Valrico man faces federal child porn charges

TAMPA — Authorities arrested a Valrico man last week on federal charges of possessing and distributing child pornography after a Federal Bureau of Investigation officer in Kansas learned he was collecting and sharing the files on the Internet.

Members of the Innocent Images Task Force, which consists of investigators from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Largo police and the FBI, arrested Joshua Craig Abel after a search of his home Feb. 23.

According to the FBI, Abel, 28, was using a file-sharing program to collect the images. Investigators seized about 20 terabytes of related data from Abel's home at 1009 Classic Drive.

Anyone with information on the case can contact the FBI Tampa office at (813) 253-1000.
