VALRICO — A 21-year-old woman accused of stealing jewelry valued at $42,000 from her grandmother was arrested Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Christina Rose Johnigean broke into her grandmother's bedroom through a window Friday, an arrest affidavit states. She then went to a pawn shop, where she received $4,000 for some of the jewelry, the records indicate.
On Monday, she stole more items from her grandmother and returned to the pawnshop, this time cashing them for $1,500, according to the affidavit.
Deputies said that when they interviewed Johnigean, she admitted taking the jewelry.
Johnigean faces two counts of theft from a person 65 years or older, two counts of dealing in stolen property, and two counts of giving false information to a pawnbroker.
She was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where she was being held Wednesday in lieu of $7,500 bail.
