Wanted suspect nabbed as part of Operation Safe Children in Hernando

BROOKSVILLE — A sex offender wanted on a charge of attempted murder and described as one of Hernando's most wanted was arrested Thursday after deputies received an anonymous tip, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Harry Delaine IV, 21, of Brooksville was found sleeping in a shed at 11880 Broad St. that had been converted into a makeshift apartment, authorities said. He was taken into custody without incident, but deputies said they observed a firearm and ammunition nearby.

Delaine, one of nine wanted people named Wednesday by the Sheriff's Office as part of Operation Safe Children, was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, attempted robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and failure to comply with sex offender requirements. He was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center, where he remained Thursday evening in lieu of $330,000 bail.
